THE GREAT ESCAPE 2010 – PREVIEW
Imagine the world of an online music blog, with it’s deep running passions, it’s relentless networking and it’s unstoppable drive for locating the world’s finest new tunes. Then imagine all the cutting edge bands from the world’s best music scenes descending upon it’s home city, where they play all day, for three days. Stir in some of the best journalists, A&R people, label bosses, other bloggers and just about every music loving person from every level of the music industry. Complete each day with a batch of special after parties, secret gigs and drunken late nights, where you meet, interview and unrelentedly schmooze with the hundreds of artists. For fuck’s sake, this festival is a music blogger’s paradise.
The Recommender was born in Brighton and calls this small city home, holding it’s monthly showcase gigs here, so this annual event is one of the year’s major highlights. This year we’ve taken the decision to hold our own showcase, The Recommender vs The Source Magazine, on the opening day, which only adds to the dribble-inducing excitement. More on that in our next post however…
In our below preview of the 2010 event, we list our recommendations and highlights. Once again we will be Tweeting throughout each day, so follow us for up to date news, including any secret gigs and parties etc. Additionally, as we did last year, we will be compiling our popular Recommender Timetable, which is a useful tool and perfect if you want to know which of the bands we plan to see. We can also email the spreadsheet to you if required, so let us know if you want a copy for yourselves. If you want to get an insider’s day by day view on the festival, we will be reviewing each day on this blog, with details on our experiences, the gigs we’ve seen, any interviews we complete and our photography, so keep checking back for more.
