THE REMIXES – PART 2 – SOULWAX
On the back of the ‘How Good Is This…’ Bloc Party remix special, I’ve decided to do another remix-based dedication on this post. This time it will be for the re-edit kings themselves – Soulwax.
With their wardrobe now packed full of some of the finest remixes in existence, these guys can show off a set of absolutely fantastic efforts. They totally abide by the remix and mashup rules of trying to create something genuinely original out of the pickings of other artist’s songs. And what a job they’ve done over recent years, including their very latest touch of brilliance on the tune ‘Kids’ by MGMT.
The Belgium team are often found grabbing tunes from non-dance based artists, from The Rolling Stones to Dolly Parton to The Gossip, and they always manage to produce proper dance-floor fillers. Great records to pull out at the peak of any party, these Electro legends can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned.
We all know they released an album of their remixes in 2007, but I just wanted to shove a selected handful from their vast collection of blends here on The Recommender. Enjoy…
KIDS– MGMT (Soulwax Nite Versions Edit)
YOU CAN’T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT– ROLLING STONES (Soulwax Remix)
GRAVITY’S RAINBOW– KLAXONS (Soulwax Remix)
LOVELIGHT – ROBBIE WILLIAMS (Soulwax Ravelight Vocal)
STANDING IN THE WAY OF CONTROL– GOSSIP (Soulwax Nite Version)
PHANTOM PART 2– JUSTICE (Soulwax Remix)
GET INNOCUOUS– LCD SOUNDSYSTEM (Soulwax Remix)
HOLD YOUR HEAD UP – ARTHUR ARGENT (Soulwhacked Mix)
You may find that your feet begin to tap and your arms may well wave involuntarily as a consequence of listening to these tunes, but don’t worry, that’s a perfectly healthy response.
The new RECOMMENDER 13 will be posted up soon, so get your ass back here real soon for plenty more involuntary movements.
